Bio
Born in 1991, Mahé Elipe is a French photographer based in Mexico City since 2016. Her work, positioned between photojournalism and documentary photography, explores human, social, and environmental conditions, with particular attention to stories led by women. By documenting their knowledge and resistance, she aims to fight against their erasure from history and to defend a plural collective memory. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards and grants, including the Reuters Photojournalism Grant (2019), the National Geographic Society COVID-19 Emergency Fund (2020), the Women Photograph Project Grant (2022), and the Françoise Demulder Prize (2023) awarded at Visa pour l’Image. In 2024, she won the Sony World Photography Award in the Professional Environment category, and in 2025, she was nominated for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award and won first place in the UNICEF Giga Photo Contest. That same year, she also received the Prix SAIF – Les Femmes s’exposent, with the awarded work set to be exhibited at the UPP Gallery in Paris in December 2025.As an authorial photographer, her work has been widely exhibited in Poland, Spain, France, Canada, and Italy. Her photographs have been featured in international media outlets such as Libération, Le Monde, Bloomberg, Geo, The Guardian, Vogue, MC Magazine, and Reuters.
