ABOUT

Bio

Born in 1991, Mahé Elipe is a French photographer based in Mexico City. She studied in France, going from a License in Applied Arts, at the University of Mirail, to a photography school ETPA in 2012, allowing her to sharpen her eye in the visual arts.

After several years working in the fashion industry in Paris, Mahé radically changed course and began her career as a photo reporter in 2016 in Latin America. Her documentary work focuses on the human condition with a particular interest in the place of women in society, which will push her to settle permanently in Mexico where she has been living for almost 5 years.

Member of the Hans Lucas studio and of the Women Photograph collective, Mahé focuses her attention on social issues and tries to construct her images by drawing on the culture of those she meets. She had the opportunity to complete her training, thanks to the Workshop Nikon-Bayeux security in conflict zone in 2018, as well as the Nikon-NOOR Academy Masterclass in Budapest the same year. She is also one of the winners of Reuters Photojournalists Grants 2019 and as such has been able to attend Reuters Safety Training in Athens. Recently Mahé was selected to follow The Eddie Adams Workshop XXXIII in September 2020.
Mahé has collaborated with different media such as Le Monde, Liberation, Médiapart, Vice, Al Jazeera ...
